Today Truett and I met Merry Jennifer, Madeline, and Oliver at "The Flying Biscuit" in Gainesville for an early lunch.
It is the last weekend before school starts for the grandchildren and before their lives become entrenched with reading, writing, and arithmetic. I always felt a sense of panic over the loss of summer free time; yet, even though I am retired, I still feel the panic. We always had to get one last fun day in before the long ten month school year began. Today "The Flying Biscuit" lunch was our one last fun day.
Here is Oliver blowing the paper off the straw at me. I know the flying paper won't hurt. It's just the fear and uncertainty of when the paper will be launched. Truett teaches all the children this restaurant trick. Bad Granddaddy!
Merry Jennifer told us about her recent trip to New York to be with a friend who recently lost her husband. MJ writes about her trip in her food blog The Merry Gourmet.
After lunch we hugged and kissed and Merry Jennifer was off to "Meet the Teacher" at Madeline's school, while Truett and I were off to Winn-Dixie and then home.
