This morning as I entered the main school building I heard all kinds of commotion echoing through the halls. Now at 7:15 a.m. I assumed it had to be an irate parent who couldn't find a parking place or didn't want want to wait in a line, with their car heaters running, to have their child escorted from their cars to the sidewalk by educators bundled up in scarves, earmuffs, coats and gloves.(me!) However, as I rounded a corner I saw a pint-sized stocky boy (obviously from kindergarten) shouting at the top of his lungs, "I CAN SPELL RED! R-E-D! I CAN SPELL RED! R-E-D! A FIRETRUCK IS RED! R-E-D! AN APPLE IS RED!"... The whole while he's marching, his arms swinging to his chanting rhythm. I stopped and watched as he asked teachers? "Know what I can do? I can spell red."
It was a great way to start my day, at least before I bundled up in my coat, gloves and earmuffs!
What an accomplishment, to have it connect with the brain. Hurray for teachers.

H-O-O-R-A-Y for him! That is so exciting that HE was that excited. When can I start teaching Maddie to spell? I can hardly wait! It's so fun watching kids learn...

Getting to see little kids' brains pop like that is the most exciting thing about teaching. I love it when they get it and are SOOO excited!
