Today my children at school went outside and painted with flowers. We used charred wood for the outline of a tree and the 'character' of the tree, tree bark to color the inside of the of the tree and flowers and leaves to add color to the painting. It's a great activity for the fourth graders; however, the smoke from the Waycross, Georgia fires added a blue haze over Fort White while the temperature rose to 93 degrees. My grass is brown. Everything is prickly when I walk outside. In fact, I saw a black snake on my back deck. "Water!" it hissed. "Just don't come in my porches!" I thought.
I do know the rains will come. In the meantime, it's suffocating down here.
