Today at school the children wrote about their earliest memories, which for some of them only happened about five years ago. Most of the childrens' earliest memories took place when they were three or four years old, that is, except for one boy whose earliest memory took place two weeks ago. Someone certainly wasn't listening to directions.
As I thought about my earliest memory, one stood out. It was a birthday party for Sherry and me and it was held in a gazebo at a city park. I want to say we were two years old. I remember especially, that the party favors were plastic frogs. We pumped the bulbous end that sent air through a tube and the frogs hopped. I can see us in little white dresses...the twins. I see balloons and other kids and adults, but especially the hopping frogs.
Now that you've read my memory, my mom will probably call and say, "It wasn't your birthday party and they weren't frogs; but all my life I have believed this really happened.
What's your earliest memory?
