Today is my birthday. Sixty-four years ago twin girls were born, weighing in at 3 and 3-1/2 pounds. I was the 3 pounder, the runt, so to speak. Mom tells the story of how she went to North Carolina to visit my day who was in the Marines. Our grandmothers decided to surprise them both so they packed the twins up and hopped on the bus to North Carolina, with a twin in each of their arms...a surprise visit. I bet it was. Mom had not seen dad since we had been born. As the story goes, we were so tiny we slept in the top and bottom dresser drawers of the hotel.
It seems like only yesterday that my mom and dad retired to Florida and dad was 64. I thought my parents were old back then; but today I know they were probably looking toward their retirement with happiness and joy and felt as young as I do today. Also, I realize all of us are learning that age is relative to how healthy one is. But, I'm not touching that subject today because it's my birthday. ("Happy birthday, Sherry!")
This morning Truett treated me to a breakfast casserole at our local restaurant and my friend from school, Lucille, treated me to a birthday lunch at The Ivy House in Williston, Florida. Always order the special. It's yummy, plus the atmosphere is delightful. I think men believe this is a 'woman's restaurant', a "foo-foo" kind of place, and it is.
To end the day we will be babysitting Oliver, which will be a treat and a delightful way to end the birthday. Life is good.

Happy birthday to you! For the first time I don't want to be the oldest. (15 minutes)
