Truett and I are headed to Franklin, North Carolina tomorrow. We're staying in my daughter's father-in-law's cabin. We're meeting my twin sister and her husband, and we're so excited.
A real vacation...a spur of the moment vacation (decided just last night). This vacation was only decided yesterday and I've gotten the keys to the house, directions, and now we're planning the incidentals such as, what liquor to take. Today we bought Glennfiddich, a fine malt liquor, wine, Bulleit Bourbon straight from Kentucky and an after dinner lemon liqueur.
We will pan for rubies in Franklin. We will drive around the mountains and the guys will take photographs of wildlife and and plants not indigenous to Elizabethtown, Kentucky or Fort White, Florida.
I'm taking cards to play Rook, dominoes, and other games. Sherry and I may write or doodle. I'll definitely read. Right now I'm reading the new James Patterson book, The Quickie, and Cross Creek, by Marjorie Kennan Rawlings. The temperature in Franklin will be 84-86 degrees, compared to our 98 degrees here. We'll eat out, not ever attend a meeting of any kind, and hopefully, relax.
It's definitely a vacation and I'm so excited. I love living on the edge.
I'm sure you all will have a wonderful time. Just be sure to take some advil or aspirin to treat the hangovers everyone is sure to have if you drink all that liquor! We'll see you when you get back...

I hope you all have a wonderful trip! I'm guessing Franklin must be in a dry county, or are you just planning to really tie on one?!
