Even though we didn't see a lot of fall color in the NC mountains, we did see a patch of eye-popping cosmos blooming on top of a mountain in Helen, Georgia. Thanks to our trusty GPS. Using a GPS with a visual map is the only way to travel away from home to someplace new. Truett and I named our GPS system, Gypsy. I can hear her now saying, Turn right. In .4 miles turn left. In .1 mile turn right. RECALCULATING! RECACULATING! Gosh, Gypsy got impatient with the driver who thought he knew the route better. But, Truett learned to listen to Gypsy because she was always right.
This is a brook running through the mountains. The fall foilege you see was about the peak of the colors of the trees. Not much color, but certainly more than Florida. However, we did watch a dogwood tree turn orange-reddish over the 3 day trip. By the way, Truett has a new nickname. Instead of Swiper, the sneaky fox in Dora the Explorer, his new nickname is Squisher. It seemed the squirrels were neurotic. They would dart across the narrow roads with walnuts in their mouth, and in the blink of an eye, we would hear, Bu..bump. "Noooo!" Sherry and I would scream. "Not another one!" So there you are. A most relaxing trip in October. (It was really hard to get motivated at work today.)
Your pictures are beautiful!
