What? Just a few paving stones surrounded by green moss? Yes, indeedy. At least there is somewhat of a symmetrical pattern in the stones, a sense of balance and harmony, yet not perfect symmetry and balance.
I always say October is my favorite month; yet, year after year I feel tugs, pulls, scatterdness in the month of October. The school children reach a plateau in their writing in October. Their writing doesn't change. Too wordy. Not specific enough. Then we have to get past Halloween and the sugar highs and lows; and I can tell you now, I am truly looking forward to November, to a sanity at least with the writing prompts. Prompts such as, "Family Traditions" or "Things I am Thankful for". There are so many things happening in October. Fairs, festivals and football games. Being able to stay home and appreciate the quiet and peacefulness is truly a blessing, which is what I'm doing now.
One good thing, though. Truett and I finally filed for passports for our trip to Alaska in early June of 2008. In fact, I called the travel agent and said, "Book it!" What a relief. Truly, we are anxious to see Alaska. That's a burden off our shoulders. Just making a final decision. Symmetry. Some months need it.
