I suppose all weekends can't be outstanding. Mine probably would have been had the Gators beat Georgia yesterday. However; the ride over to Jacksonville and tailgating was quite a trip. No. I did not take the bourbon. I did take chicken tenders, potato salad and brownies covered in sugar sprinkles, and all the men liked them.
But I tell you. The ride to Jacksonville with three older men (64 years old-71) was a hoot. The bantering was hilarious and I know there is a TV sitcom there if only I knew how to write it. I'll name the guys Bill, Joe and Tom. That's pretty generic, don't you think. Conversations went like this:
Bill: Tom, you couldn't find any long socks to wear?
Joe: Yeah, man. Nobody wears short socks with long pants.
Tom: Merry, do you see how they pick on me?
Bill, nudging Tom: look.
In the meantime I see a scantily clad UF girl with her breasts practically hanging out of her Sunday-Go-To-Meeting dress and wearing 5 inch high-heels to a tailgating party no less.
Joe to Tom: You couldn't touch that.
Bill: Yeah, just how big is yours? Look here (and he holds up a 4 inch space between his palms). Then he says, "Fellows this is what Tom calls 8 ".
Tom: Merry, do you see how they pick on me?
Oh, my God. They did this stuff for three hours. I felt like I was back in college. These older men trying to outdo one another (but in jest). But the good part is, half of them fell asleep on the way home. The only one who didn't was Bill. Do you think age had anything to do with it? I chuckled. In fact, I dare any of them to show me 8 inches.
Today Truett and I took a walk at Ichetucknee Springs and I spied this path in the photo. I was drawn to it. The weather was 67 degrees with a cool wind. A gloomy day, really. But a day to recuperate from the weekend with the boys.
Sounds like an interesting ride over to Jacksonville. I wish the game had turned out differently, but UF just didn't go to play.
Neat picture of the path. You should post on Flickr, too.
