Cypress knees in Oleno State Park
For many years my family would take walks in Oleno State Park. One thing that enthralled me were the cypress knees. These roots always reminded me of conspiring monks huddled in groups along the spongy forest floor.
During these walks my imagination conjured up mystical stories about these cypress knee monks battling against evil. Evil were the loud little boys racing through their territory. The swamp alligator and water moccasin were the protectors of the monks and their secret order. If you really use your imagination, you may see the giant, curvy, swamp snake.
This particular area gives me the heebie-jeebies. I'm always cautious about looking too closely for I may actually see the real deal.
Good writing...you gave me the heebie-jeebies, particularly when you said look at the swamp snake.
