I will end my journey to Alaska with this post. After all, we went there two weeks ago and I've re-lived our visit this past week in my blog. Florida is having severe thunderstorms every afternoon and our computers have been zonked twice so I've been frustrated at not being able to keep up the momentum.
While we were in Fairbanks Truett and I rented a Ford truck for three days after the official Princess Cruise ended and toured on our own. First, we headed up to Chena Hot Springs. It was about 60 miles away on very rugged roads. We ate lunch there and on the way we were lucky enough to see Trumpeter swans.
We also saw a resting moose.
The second day on our own we drove on up to the Alaskan Pipeline.
Around Fairbanks I decided to photograph this car so I can show the children at school.
Fairbanks is about 120 miles from the Arctic Circle so obviously this is not THE North Pole. This police cruiser belongs to a small town thirty miles from Fairbanks. We knew sandhill cranes migrate north so I was able to photograph them in Creamer's Field, near the University of Alaska.
And I cannot end this vacation without showing you a native Athabaskan Indian who was very entertaining on our stop at Denali.
Sorry about that woman's head, but some tourists don't budge an inch. It's as if they are exclusive photographers in this world. So from now on you may see photos of Alaska during my regular posts, which will probably be boring compared to our trip to Alaska. But I'm done. Don't want to wear out a good thing.
Beautiful! Sorry to see it end but thank you for sharing!

Enjoyed the beautiful scenery, animals, etc.
Thanks for writing and showing a small portion of your trip to Alaska.
Where will the Riverboat Discovery tour take you?

Thanks for sharing part of your trip. I'm looking forward to more tidbits and photos as you post in the future.
On a side note, I'm surprised you can get that close to the pipeline. I thought there would be more security.
