Do you see what I see?
You know guys, it's hard to take good photographs when the weather looks like this. Even though we had partly sunny skies this morning, by the afternoon this is what we ended up with. So Truett took advantage of the sunny skies this morning and took Maddie swimming while Oliver took a nap.
As they were returning from the pool I said, "Maddie look up. I want to take your picture." So she gladly granted my request.
"Come on, Maddie. Look at me." I pleaded.
"Okay," she said.
"Yes! That's the perfect picture!" I shouted and shook my head. Some days a four-and-a-half year old is cooperative, but obviously not today.
Last night Maddie and I were drawing and she told me in no uncertain words how I was supposed to color. Now I think after 44 years as an elementary teacher I know how to color.
"Nana, you don't suppose to color a butterfly little. It's suppose to be big like the sun."
"Alright Maddie."
"And Nana. You're suppose to color inside the lines."
"Come on, Maddie. Sometimes you can color outside the lines. It's okay to do that," I answered.
Then she look straight into my eyes and said, "No! You're suppose to color inside the lines."
"Who told you that, Maddie?" I am assuming her teacher gave her this wonderful advice.
"My friends all told me that, Nana cause they know how to do it."
"Okay," I mumbled.
"Do you think Oliver will color in the lines, Maddie?"
"No, he scribble scrabbles, but I used to scribble scrabble and now I don't. I color in the lines."
Well, I guess she told me. At sometime in our lives we do have to recognize boundaries even if it is on paper.
Here's our picture.
As I analyzed the picture I see no differences in our cats. Maybe I need art classes again. The butterfly and the flowers give you a clue, I hope as to which ones are Maddies. Maddie did not like my clouds with sharp pointy edges. She said they needed to be puffy. I give her that one. Uh, oh. She wrote Fritz's name backwards and right to left, but she should get this straightened out this year at her new VPK school.
Speaking of Oliver, look at this face.
Yes, Maddie is right. He looks like a scribble scrabbler.
Well, we're all back to work tomorrow and hopefully a brighter week. You have a good one.
