Yesterday as we were walking in the Ichetucknee River State Park I told my friend, "Just think in a year and a half I can come down here and walk anytime I please." Why? Because in May 2010 I will be officially retired from an educational system.
I will be able to take a walk anytime I please. On a Monday or Tuesday, even a Wednesday or Thursday; but I will not have to wait until a Saturday or Sunday. I can only imagine the photographs I might take without the tourists that flock to the springs on weekends.
I may take an early walk and see herons and egrets. I may even see a beaver who gnawed away this tree.
Yesterday as we walked along the lonely trails deep in the park we came across two armadillos, neither of which I got a photograph of. We had Duncan, the dog with us and he led the way, sniffing the trail before I could sneak upon a creature. I just wasn't fast enough to get a decent photograph of them.
I'm looking forward to sneaking upon creatures in the woods when I retire and taking a walk anytime I choose.
Isn't this a beautiful mushroom growing on this tree?
These mushrooms reminded me of sacred chalices.
I'm not totally ignorant to think that I won't have priorities that keep me from taking a walk anytime I choose. So I think I will create a pie graph and coordinate hours in a day and certainly leave an equal portion of my retirement time to walking anytime I choose, as long as I have a camera with me.
Your walks are inspiring.
