On Thanksgiving Merry Jennifer brought Maddie and Oliver's pajamas with full intentions of bathing the children at Nana and Granddaddy's house. However, Maddie pitched an uncontrollable fit because the TV was turned off and she couldn't watch Maddie TV any longer. So being the smart parents that Merry Jennifer and Sam are, they said, "Time to go home."
Then the wailing and whining began from five year old Maddie. "But I want to take a bath here!" she screamed repeatedly. It did not happen. Time was of the essence to get those children home and in their own beds. After all, Maddie ate jelly beans and two pieces of pie and played hard on Thanksgiving Day. Sugar Crash big time!
Well, Merry Jennifer brought the children out yesterday to watch Gator football against FSU. Sam went to the football game in Tallahassee in the pouring down rain. The kids were perfect while they were here with the warning that if there were any more tantrums they would immediately head back to Gainesville with no bath at Nana's.
Maddie and Oliver love our old claw-footed tub. It is so deep they can almost swim in it, except two kids in the tub is quite crowded. Immediately after supper Maddie asked, "Can we take a bath now?" The answer was a definite "Yes". It seems like only yesterday when they both fought bath time.
Here they are floating in the tub, as happy as larks.
They were so good yesterday that they even made themselves a pallet on the floor while we finished watching the Gators whip upon FSU.
Night night, children.
We're keeping Maddie and Oliver next weekend while Merry Jennifer is in San Francisco and while Sam is in Atlanta for the SEC championship playoffs. My fingers are crossed that the children will be good. We plan to wear them out in fresh air, feed them until they're stuffed, and bathe them once again. There will be no jelly beans and no pie!
