This afternoon Truett and I drove to Cross City, Florida, and along the way we passed Waccasassa Plantation, a sporting and hunting area not too far from us. We often drive dirt roads around the perimeter of Waccasassa Plantation to look for exotic animals. We have seen water buffalo and wild pigs, but today we were fortunate to see deer.
It was pouring down rain so I asked Truett to turn around and go back so I could take a photograph.
Here is a doe and her little fawn (which seems to be mostly hidden.)
Yes, the ears flattened back mean she is ready to bound into the woods. Seeing these deer was a treat for my eyes.
