I have a dilemma. Is altering photographs with Photoshop Elements cheating?
Take this picture for instance.
This is a photo of our woods in front of the house. Now I applied Photoshop Elements.
Kapow! Trees jump out at you.
Now look at Bubba again.
Now let's add some life to this sweet dog.
Photoshop Elements was obviously meant for amateurs. I suppose the professionals can set their camera settings and get the life in photos that amateurs can't get.
Enough. It is nice to have the time to play around with my photographs though.
Somehow the photoshop photos are glaringly white on these at least. It's been fun catching up with your blog.

I like the edited photos - the colors really pop. I don't think it's cheating at all. Photography (which includes editing) is an art!

I like them both, but in different ways.
Photoshop editing a photo is like editing an essay, and editing a paper is definitely not cheating. I believe it's called creativity!

Ansel Adams genius was in the darkroom. He set up and took great photographs but every photo of his that was ever published he worked them over in the darkroom. Photography without darkroom (PHOTOSHOP) manipulation would be akin to painting with sticks instead of BRUSHES. Of course, candid photography can be good or even great but all photographs can be enhanced with manipulation. It takes great skills to manipulate Photoshop or any other editing program and any idiot can luck into a nice photo once in a while.
