We read in the Gainesville Sun that Royal Park Cinema is showing "The Soloist", followed by a thirty minute discussion on schizophrenia. Evidentally the National Mental Health Association is sponsoring this film. They received so many ticket requests that the movie is being moved to a larger movie theater. Every one is piqued with curiosity about this illness.
One part of the film that I found fascinating was when the soloist (Jamie Foxx) would have long rapid monologues to himself, obviously making word associations. So Tuesday on the way to pick up my mom to go to dinner, and being somewhat bored, I decided to try to have a rapid word association monologue. Just for fun, mind you, because I am not schizophrenic. Yet.
Here's how it went:
I'm passing yellow flowers on the road and I see a yellow road sign that says stop for slow children and slow children are slow in movement and speed and the yellow flowers are blooming on the side of the road and there is a white sign that says deer crossing and my friend hit a deer on this road and it killed the deer maybe because he had too much speed but it didn't kill him but it totaled his car and the deer was totaled by the yellow flowers and the white sign and the slow children and I don't know why children can't be faster because they have little legs and I use to have little legs when I was a child but now I'm fat like the deer that got killed by the yellow sign and the white sign that says slow children...
Actually, by the time I got to Mom's I was exhausted from all that babble. I certainly am not making fun of anyone with this disorder. I'm just curious. So now. How about a pretty picture.
Not yet, but veeerrryyy soon!
