Trivia about what's happening these days:
1. Five (5) more days left with the school children
2. Two (2) days postplanning and then I'm on SUMMER VACATION. Whoopee!
3. It has rained in Fort White for one solid week. . .steady with more rain expected through Monday. The frogs are croaking in my field, the ponds and drainage ditches are full and the cows are loving the grass.
4. My roses are full of blossoms of the prettiest colors. I haven't gone out to talk to them or prune them yet because of number 3.
5. We took Maddie to two (2) swim lessons today and she did great! She competed well with the three boys in her group.
6. I saw an osprey flying over the UF swimming pool today with a fish clutched in its talons. She landed in her nest way up high on the field lights at the UF baseball field. It was raining so hard and Truett and I were hunkered under an umbrella or I would have taken a photograph.
7. I brought Punky and Roger a surprise from the back porch tonight. . .an ugly brown cricket. As I came in from the back porch in the dark I felt something wet and cold on the top of my right foot. I looked down and thought it was a wolf spider, but lucky me. It was only an ugly brown cricket. So I shook my foot and the thing lept toward Punky and Roger. Bad move curious, careless cricket!
You would think this cat would at least smile ever so often. What a jerk!
8. Maddie told us tonight she likes teaching Oliver how to share his tractor that beeps and other toys. In fact she likes teaching everybody things. So I said, "Great, Maddie. Maybe you'll be a teacher like Nana one day." Her reply was, "No. I want to be a doctor." Then she hesitated and said, "I want to be a teaching doctor. I want to teach things and help make people get better." I then reminded her that her mother is a teaching doctor, and she smiled. I love my granddaughter's goals so early in life.
Well, that's about all I can think of. The long Memorial Day weekend is knocking at my door.
