It was so much fun watching Madeline and Oliver on Sunday. You know. Doing the grandparent thing, where the rules are different.
After naps we rewarded the children with TCBY ice cream in Town of Tioga, their housing complex and assorted up-scale shops.
Can you guess whose idea that was?
Uh, huh. . . Grandaddy's!
Well, after we had all indulged in cotton candy, butter pecan and rocky road ice cream, we decided to let the grandchildren loose.
You know. Let them be free... like wild horses, if you will.
And the next thing you know, I see my grandchildren down on their knees looking at something.
Then I hear, "Naaanaa! Come here!"
So, being a curious person, I grab my camera and head toward the grandchildren.
"What's in there?" Oliver asks?
"Pipes," I answer; but to be honest with you, I have NO clue what's down there.
I really wanted to get down on my knees and look, but I knew I wouldn't be able to get up, so I just said, "Tell me what you see?"
"I think it's a pipe," Madeline answered.
Yeah, that's sounds good. "Yes, Madeline. That's where all the rain water goes if it rains in here."
Boy, I was feeling confident. . .and was purely making it up, as my family will confirm: If mama doesn't know the answer...well, then ...she makes it up.
So after the science lesson on where rain water goes, we headed to the drainage pond.
But, as my fourth graders like to say, "That's another story."
See you tomorrow.
Love this story. Darling picture of Oliver.
Will check back another time for another story.
