This morning Truett and I drove to Lake City to Home Depot. You probably know by now that I dislike shopping in Home Depot or Lowes. But he had to go, so I volunteered to ride with him.
I asked Truett if he would drive me around Lake DeSoto in downtown Lake City, and he said he would.
"But no ducks! I don't want to photograph ducks. . . just herons or egrets."
Well, of course when I go looking for herons and egrets, they don't show up. Either we were real, real early or real, real late to see the herons and egrets. All we saw were ducks.
So I photographed ducks. They were kind of cute, though. And that Mallard is downright handsome; but I just don't have a lot of background knowledge about ducks.
I never lived by water where there were ducks.
I don't eat duck because it's too oily.
About my only knowledge about ducks is the childhood game, Duck Duck Goose or yelling,"Duck!" if a plank was about to swat one of my children upside the head (Just kidding).
Also, I did read The Ugly Duckling.
And I have two rubber ducks sitting on a stool beside my claw-footed tub.
But that's about it as far as my knowledge about ducks.
No wonder I don't want to photograph ducks.
