Check it out!
My mother's hair is growing back.
On April 6, 2010 we were ecstatic that Mom had baby fine hairs that stuck straight up. She was thrilled at the time that she could feel the wind blowing her hairs.
What a journey this has been.
Today Mom had an appointment to have her port flushed out, and I noticed a difference in Mom today at the Clinic compared to Mom three months ago.
Mom's whole demeanor has changed, now that she's feeling better...now that she's in remission.
There were no big SIGHS!
There was no irritation about me slamming into the elevator door with the wheel chair.
There was no gloom and doom conversations. . . only snippets of "Remember when...", followed by, "Well, I hope we don't have to go through that again."
When Mom was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, the Oncologist said, By the middle of summer, you'll be in remission if you let me treat your cancer my way."
Summer, back in February, seemed like forever, until I counted the months until I was out for summer vacation (retirement); and then Summer seemed like only a few short months away.
At Mom's last Oncologist appointment in June, Dr. Lynch said, "Alice, by September you will be brushing your hair."
Mom and I looked at each other with a twinkle in our eyes and questioned, "Really? Hair in three months?" Mom hopes not to have curly hair, but concedes, "Any kind of hair is better than no hair."
And I agree.
WONDERFUL!

Wow! It's beginning to look like a style..and is so much longer than a week and a half ago.

I was thinking of you today and decided to look at your blog. I won't be sending those butterfly pictures I mentioned taking, they do not compare to yours! I loved seeing you with your "curly" do, reminds me of my own curly hair (that I pay to have straightened!) See you Tuesday.
