Yesterday I kept Madeline at her home because she was recovering from an ear infection. It was special for me for sure because Madeline and I rarely have one-on-one time. . .Nana and Granddaughter time.
During the morning we sat at the kitchen table and drew pictures. If you are on Facebook, you may have seen the rainbow colored dragon I drew. Originally, I was trying to draw my hand, but my drawing suddenly took on the shape of a dragon, which Madeline helped me color.
But drawing the Rainbow Dragon yesterday wasn't the thing I was most proud of. I had forgotten my camera, so I took a photograph of the Rainbow Dragon with my Blackberry phone and downloaded it to Facebook to show all of you, especially my sister.
Around noon Madeline and I went to Perkins for lunch. We discussed her options from the kid's menu and she told me she wanted Rainbow Pancakes. Well, I'll tell you right now, those pancakes looked decadent. They were covered with sprinkles and had a huge blob of whipped cream resting on the top.. . with syrup oozing down the sides. My teeth hurt just looking at them.
Madeline spread the whipped cream all over the pancakes and kept playing around with the sprinkles with her spoon. After ten minutes I asked, "Madeline, are you going to eat your Rainbow Pancakes?"
Her answer, "Nana. I don't think my tummy wants those pancakes. My tummy wants healthy food."
"Good for you," I answered. "Your Mommy and Daddy have taught you well."
So I ordered her a grilled cheese, which she happily ate.
Then I felt all disgusted with myself for taking a couple of bites of the Rainbow Pancakes. Obviously, my Granddaughter has better sense than I do.
At the end of the day Madeline gave me the picture she had drawn and I gave her my Rainbow Dragon. It was truly a special day for me.
What a beautiful photo of Maddie!
