This morning Truett and I left for Louisville for our niece's wedding. But not without a few stressful moments:
First, Lily, my daschund puppy, escaped from the fenced yard so I had to chase her around to capture her. Thank you, Bruce for repairing the fence.
Then our TV went off and all I saw were rainbow stripes on the screen with a high-pitched beep. Oh, my goodness. I warned my mother that she may be reading books for the next several days; but luckily, after about twenty minutes "Let's Make a Deal" was back on.
Finally, our bags were packed and we were giving Clay last minute instructions, plus directions to our parking space for the Florida football game on Saturday. We pulled out the drawer where we keep our prized tickets and they weren't there. Talk about stress. Truett's blood pressure shot up as well as mine. After a few silent prayers I decided to check the house; and to make a long story short, I found the tickets. Now there will be no divorce.
Then we jumped in the car and headed North. I drove from Valdosta, Georgia to Macon while Truett napped. He woke up in time to see a white truck in front of me lose a 5-gallon bucket with silver tools in it..right in front of our car.
Recently I had a conversation with my golfing buddies regarding driver safety. I posed the question, "If there were an animal in the road would you swerve or hit the animal?" Lucille said she would swerve and I said I would too. Then I asked Brenda, "What about you?" She replied, "Well, I killed the deer."
So as I'm watching the 5-gallon bucket bounce in front of my car, and as I see the silver tools scuttle on I- 75, I thought about killing the deer. I gripped the steering wheel and plowed through the silver tools, clipping the bucket and sending it to the middle lane. That's about the time I told Truett, "You drive!"
After that I mostly took about forty pictures of stuff. I saw a little bit of fall color coming out of Chattanooga even though the outside temperature read 100. Heck, I pulled up the weather channel for Fort White, Florida and the temperature there was only 90 degrees. I'm glad I live in Florida.
Traffic out of Chattanooga heading towards Monteagle, Tennessee was atrocious. Then I spotted this van advertising "Disc Dogs". We passed it on the right and I told Truett I wanted a picture of the Aussie looking out of the passenger side window. But the traffic got all jammed up and I didn't get my picture.
Then about forty miles later we saw the "Disc Dog" van pull into a Tennessee Welcome Station. Being a thoughtful husband, Truett followed it in, where I immediately leaped out of the car and yelled, "Hey! We've been trying to catch you since Chattanooga!" The driver asked if we were going to the "disc meet".
I explained to the driver that no we weren't. I just wanted a picture of his pretty dog. The man told us that the dark brown dog will be on TV in a competition the first weekend in October.
I thanked him for letting me take photos of his dogs and we left. I'm pretty sure the man thought I was some whack-o. Do you think?
Finally, after a long, long drive, we have landed in a Hampton Inn in Manchester, Tennessee. But maybe you can help me out here. I saw a tree with strange red fruit on it outside of a Cracker Barrel. Do you know what it is?
