Last night Truett and I came home from a Save our Suwanee meeting here in Fort White. As I was preparing to get out of the car, I dropped an important note between my car seat and the console. I tried to reach the note with my fingers, but was unsuccessful, so I told Truett to get the note when he got out of the car.
Then I opened the car door and was hit by a blast of cold air. "You get the note!" I hollered back as I hurried toward the porch.
And shortly afterward I heard a "MEEOOWWW!"
"Cat fight," I thought and proceeded to the house.
I came on into the house and sat down to nuzzle the puppies. Meanwhile, Truett walked in and headed to the kitchen.
Minutes later, he walked into the livingroom holding a glass of ice water with fingers dangling among the ice.
"Why do you have your fingers in your water?" I inquired.
"Because," Truett answered, "I smashed my fingers in the car door and it's all your fault because you were in such a hurry to get to the house!"
Then I thought," That wasn't a cat fight. . . and two and two equals four. . . it was my husband's "YEOOWW!" I'm sorry, folks, but I laughed so hard tears rolled down my cheeks.
"It's not funny," Truett said. "It's all your fault!"
"No, it wasn't my fault," I quipped. "I wasn't there!"
Well, this morning the whining continues as well as the comments such as, "Be careful. I don't want you to smash your fingers in the car door."
Honestly, I do feel bad about the whole situation, but, I promise you, "It wasn't my fault."
YES, it was.

I once slammed Michael's butt cheek in the car door! We were on our way in to the grocery store. I laughed the entire time I was shopping. He didn't see the humor in it but ya gotta admit, it was hilarious! Sorry about Truett's finger. Glad it wasn't any worse.

As a small child, I accidently slammed the car door on my favorite aunt's finger and the force severed it almost completely at the last joint. Luckily, they were able to sew it back on but I felt so badly, I couldn't eat for days!

Does Dad remember when he shut my little toe in the car door and the nail came off in one piece?!
