This afternoon after visiting Truett, I stopped at the Fort White Post Office on my way home. My post office box was crammed full of mail. I tugged and tugged until I finally yanked all the evelopes out and thought, "Wow! That's a lot of mail!"
Now, if you are like me, we don't like surprises in the mail. Especially, bills!
So as I sat at the dining room table this afternoon, I began opening twenty-three envelopes. Mom was with me as I delicately used a knife to partially tear under the envelope flap; but that didn't last long. No. Then I just injected my index finger under the partially torn flap and ripped for all it was worth.
"Not a bill! . . . Not a bill! . . . Not a bill!"
"Ooops! A bill!" So I layed that one aside.
"Not a bill! Not a bill! Not a bill!"
Mom was mystified. She didn't leave the dining room table because curiosity got the best of her. "Not a bill! Not a bill! Not a bill!"
"Not a bill! . . .Not a bill! . . .Not a bill! Not a bill! . . .Not a bill!"
Thank goodness all these envelopes didn't harbor a bill! Thank goodness!
So tell me. How long do I have to keep these "This is not a bill!" correspondence from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida?
My filing cabinet is overflowing as I type!
Goodness! Instead of stating "This is not a bill", they should state "This used to be a forest". With so much correspondance, it seems far more eco-friendly to email all of those 'not bills'. Regardless, I enjoyed reading about your mailbox adventure :-D

Hello, Mrs. George - My name is Kate Warnock and I'm the social media community manager at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida. I saw your post today and was wondering if there is anything we can do for you.
Having read this post about your influx of mail, as well as some others posted earlier, I'm wondering if you are aware of our care consultant team. These wonderful folks have a care and service background, and may be able to provide some assistance in going through those letters. Perhaps they can help you with your home situation (your loved one in Gainesville) as well. Either way, my job is to link our members to our resources when I discover the need in the social space. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] with your full name and phone number, and I'll happily forward that onto our service team.
I hope you enjoy your weekend - Kate
