It takes a while for me to assimilate the past 28 hours. A whirlwind with my grandchildren.
What special children they are. And they are so bright and quick. Maddie has a male third grade teacher this year and she is infatuated with him. He gives them the freedom to get a math problem right anyway they can, but they have to explain how they got the right answer. She likes that and she is going to tell him we had a "blackout". No power for two hours yesterday.
While Maddie and Oliver were here, Maddie and I played card games; and dear sweet Oliver, who is now a kindergarten student, well, he practiced writing his alphabet on a laminated smart board. Over and over and over. Mom tried to lecture the children about different things, only because she felt like she should. She went into depth about her third grade teaching career, but, I am afraid, her story lost the interest of both of the grandchildren after the fourth sentence.
I feel like the whole time the grandchildren were here, it dealt around food. Breakfast...snack...snack...snack...lunch...snack...My goodness, they are feeding their bodies and their brains!
I am impressed with Oliver's vocabulary. Words such as "crushed"..."definitely a party". Plus, I am impressed that Maddie beat me in Crazy Eights most of the time. She's got the "math brain".
When it was time to go to bed last night, Mom said she would read them books. However, Maddie insisted SHE could read the books. So she did!
I had a wonderful overnight with my grandchildren. They earned ten points in less than ten hours... That meant: The Dollar Store!
The sleepover with Nana went well!
Good night all!
Sounds like great memories were made!!
