After a terrifying early morning storm with tornado watches for our area, I dreaded driving to Gainesville for Truett's rehab appointment.
As I dressed, the lights flickered off and on. "Please don't let me lose power," I thought.
At one point Lily whined and whimpered. You do know that animals can sense storms way before humans can. Poor old black daddy cat was drenched from the rain and Molly hunkered under the eaves on our screened porch ledge.
But, by mid-morning, the storm had headed north to Jacksonville and a dozen American Goldfinches landed on my bird feeders and munched on bird seed. The sun came out, the rains diminished, and I searched for a rainbow. But, I didn't see one.
At 11:00 a.m., it was time to leave for Gainesville. Were the storms in Gainesville? Do I take my camera? No. Yes. No. Oh, why not! (This is the part about me that drives ME crazy!) Finally, I thought, "Just take the camera!"
I was so glad I did. I always have my Nikon in the car, so what was all that indecision about? Oh, I know. . . stormy, dreary weather!
I had a woman freak me out last week at rehab as I was walking the path beside the swamp. She told me there were Copperheads and Water Moccasins and to be very careful. "Thanks woman!" I'm thinking maybe that's one reason I hesitated about taking my camera today, as well.
I'm telling you. I couldn't get enough of the Ibis in the trees. I've never seen Ibis in the trees before today, so that made it special. Do you think maybe the stormy weather and winds blew them up there?
Surprise and thank you, God, for a perfect ending to a stormy morning. Now bring on the brrrrrr!
